In western Iran lies the city Bidjar, where the most solid knotted carpets are made. The Bidjars are as if they were not to be worn out. The wool that is used is of excellent quality. The warp thread and weft thread can be made of cotton or wool. The weft threads are tightened with a comb hammer, making the rows of solid knots even tighter, the carpet is therefore almost impossible to fold, it could even break at improper handling.

The Bidjars have often anchor patterns as a medallion in the middle and four beautiful corners at the ends of the carpet, there are also Bidjars with a continuous drawing. The edges have sometimes five bars, four narrow ones and a broad middle bar. The bars are fine, and drawing in the Bidjars have an individual character. Often seen patterns are Herati, rosettes, lotus flowers, boteh and vases with flower motives. The colours blue, red, pink, and even green are widely used. The Senneh - and Ghiordes knots are both used. The Bidjar carpets come in all sizes, both small and very large ones.
